Nicholas had a rough time at Dr. K's office today. It was his 2-month check-up and his first set of shots. It started out nicely enough. Juanita came in and took his weights and measures. Nicholas weighs 11-lbs 9-oz. He has gained 2 full pounds since his birth. His head is 19.5 inches and he's 24-inches tall. If things continue like this, he'll be bigger than John before his second birthday.
Dr. K was his normal charming self. He said that Nicholas was perfect and exactly where he should be. He even said that he looked chubbier than his actual weight. He talked to us about safety and poison control. He's one of the most cautious men I've ever met, aside from Cautious Claude. When he had finished his examination, Dr. K reminded Nicholas that he was his friend and the mean and nasty nurse, Juanita, was the one that was going to him him his shots. He's good that way.
Obviously, he didn't like the shots very much, but it's a matter of personal and public health. He cried about 5-seconds after the needle went in, but he stopped within a good 2-minutes. I recommend having a bottle of formula ready to sooth any frayed nerves. Shortly thereafter, he fell into a deep sleep that allowed us to have a great dinner with Goodtime Johnny at Village Pizzeria on Larchmont (see John's blog for details).
I didn't inlcude any photos of the shots because it was quite painful to watch and hear our little prince squeal like a little piggie.
