Nicholas Enjoys His Food

Never let it be said that Our Nicholas doesn't love his food. I think the mess around his mouth and on his nose pretty much confirms that to us all!

Nicholas' Name for John

Our Nicholas has given our John a great nickname. In the past there have been lots of nicknames given by younger siblings or cousins to each other like Mia (Marielena) and Ditas (Adriana). Nicholas' name for John is Na-Na. I have no clue where or why he chose that name, but we'll go with it. He looks, points and says to John "Na-Na!"

The Leader

He has charisma. He has grace. He's a born leader. His brother even follows him. He's Nicholas!

By the way, eventually, John did tend to give Nicholas a little shove. He stopped, but he had loads of funds pushing him around. Who ever said that doing the laundry couldn't be fun?

Why Do They Sleep Like This

For the life of me, I have no clue why they strike this pose as they sleep. It must be genetic because they both ALWAYS fall asleep in this way. I find it rather entertaining. Don't you?

The Prowler Part II

I may have forgotten to mention that our little prowler loves to speak as he is rushing about. When he was this age, John used to speak jibberish. Nicholas tends to use more words. His favorite worlds are: Milka (Milk), Livia (Olivia), Choo Choo (Train), and Elba (Elmo). Maureen counted the other night and we figured that Nicholas was up to 16 or 17 words (depending if you count "thank you" as one or two words).

The other thing he likes do do on his prowls is to deposit toys in odd spots. Yesterday, he took 5 of John's trains and deposited them in 5 different rooms. Why? I'm not sure, but one day, I'm sure that we'll find some toys in the oddest spots. We may even find silver colored Percy that disappeared the day we brought him home.

The Prowler

Nicholas enjoys walking around wherever he may be. Actually, I tend to call it prowling since he just goes around and does whatever he wants. In fact, I'd say it's almost akin to stalking since he just roams around and pounces when you least expect it. He really is a trixter. One minute, he's there and then the next he's gone. He's like Keyser Soeuze that way. So, if he's over at your house, watch out. He may just surprise you out of nowhere.

Trip to Target

After our trip to the farmer's market, we headed over to Target to get some lunch at Blue Lunch aka Daphne's. Nicholas ate like a champ. Actually, he ate french fries, pita bread, and then ate his chicken like a champ. He even started to drink John's milk. This boy drinks milk like it's water.
Since John wanted to go to Starbuck's, we split up and I took Nicholas to Target. He was so good. We bought everything we needed, including Milka aka CheChe aka Milk, because he's already halfway through the milk jug I bought yesterday. Sadly, he didn't have much of a nap today, so they are off to visit Grammy. I'm sure he'll ask for MILKA many times while he is over there. He just loves it!

Fun at the Farmer's Market

We went to the Hollywood farmer's market this morning with some of our neighbors to listen to story time. Nicholas seemed to enjoy it. Well, he was in his stroller, so he couldn't roam around the street, but he didn't start crying until everyone started to roar like a lion. He doesn't like loud sounds. He's delicate like his brother in that way. To top it off, he got an Elmo balloon from the World Famous Balloon Man! Yay!!

Maybe We Should Call Him Spike

In the summers, our parents used to send us to Merida to visit our grandparents. One of the joys of the trips for, aside from visiting our grandparents, was to read comic books. Sure, they were in Spanish, but it helped me learn to read in Spanish. Heck, I scored a 4 on the AP Spanish test without taking a single Spanish class, so comic books can be educational.

Enough of my woolgathering because this is a blog about Nicholas, not learning to read in a foreign language. Some of those comic books were called "Sal y Pimienta" aka "Sugar and Spike". They told the adventures of two little babies who spoke in "baby talk". If you look at the cover on the right, I'd say our Nicholas has quite a striking resemblance to our hero, Spike. In fact, I'm sure that one day we'll see jam on the walls much like we see on the cover.

Feeling Better

The last couple of weeks have been rough for our Nicholas. Last week, he was just miserable with a cold. He's finally back to normal, so we should have some good posts in the coming weeks. Let's just say Nicholas has been saying more and more words in both English and Spanish. He's quite skillful like that. He also loves to dance like a madman.

20 Seconds

The video is 20-seconds, but it's 20-seconds of Nicholas drinking his sippy cup. Why would I post that? Some of you may recall that it took John a very very very long time to get into drinking his sippy cups. He was almost 17-months. Our Nicholas took to it like a fish to water!

Good Guy

Nicholas was very good at Church today. I wish I could say the same for his older brother. Nicholas sat nicely and enjoyed Fr. Truc's mass whilst John and I spent most of the time running up and down the hallways. Whatever happened to crying rooms in churches? I know that Cathedral Chapel was built in the 1920's, but I'm sure there were crying children back then.

Anyway, I was so pleased with our dear sweet Nicholas!

He Kind of Looks Like His Cousin Shelby in This Photo

If you look at the shape of his eye, it's very similar to Shelby's.

Enjoying the Property

Nicholas gets to benefit from John's joy of the fountains. He loves roaming around the putting greens. He doesn't quite get how to use the golf club just yet, but give him some time, he's only 14-months.

He's Not The One That's Supposed to Sleep There

Nicholas has spent more time sleeping in John's bed than John has. On a side note, Nicholas is used to sleeping in his crib now. We just need to work on John sleeping in his bed.
